Former WWE star Ashley Massaro named in Epstein files alleging work for Ghislaine Maxwell

Ashley Massaro, a former WWE star, has been mentioned in newly released court documents relating to the long-running Jeffrey Epstein investigation, which has recently refocused public interest around the extent of individuals cited in the case. The documents, released as part of a larger cache of newly unsealed records, mentioned Massaro in relation to allegations against Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime Epstein cohort who was sentenced in 2021 for her role in the sexual assault of young girls.

The inclusion of Massaro, who passed away in 2019, has garnered a lot of attention given her status in the pro wrestling world and the unclear nature of her inclusion in the files. Although her name is mentioned in the documents, they do not level criminal charges or formal allegations against her, nor do they represent evidence of any wrongdoing on her part.

What the Epstein files say about Ashley Massaro

As noted in newly unsealed material, Ashley Massaro is mentioned in a complaint filed with federal authorities during the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The document cites allegations that Maxwell may have worked in some capacity related to the Epstein operation. The filings reference alleged activities on Epstein's private island, which is a major focal point of many survivor stories.


The documents, however, don't show that Massaro broke any laws or knowingly engaged in illegal conduct. Attorneys have pointed out that many of those named in the records related to Epstein reflect unsubstantiated allegations, hearsay, or investigative leads, not confirmed behavior. Since Massaro is dead, there is no opportunity for clarification or denial of the accusations.

After winning the WWE Diva Search in 2005, Massaro found success as a wrestler but also later opened up about health issues and post-wrestling challenges. Police have stressed that those named in the documents are not necessarily guilty. Numerous individuals cited were neither charged nor suspected of any crime; many appear only in passing. Nonetheless, the revelations have reignited demands for transparency and accountability, as well as scrutiny of how Epstein was able to maintain powerful associations for decades.
