Nagal's debut in the men's singles main draw saw him struggle on the grass court, committing 44 unforced errors. Despite the errors, he managed to hit 47 winners and took a set off the world number 53. Nagal ranked 72, but ultimately could only accumulate 104 points compared to Kecmanovic's 122.

Kecmanovic smashed six aces and conceded only two double faults. This victory marks his second win over Nagal, following a previous victory at the ATP 250 event in Cologne, Germany, five years ago, PTI reported.

Nagal's participation marked the first time in five years that an Indian played in a Wimbledon men's singles main draw match. The previous participant, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, also made a first-round exit in 2019.

Nagal is set to represent India in the upcoming Paris Olympics, underscoring a significant year in his career despite the early exit from Wimbledon.
