Jessica Pegula, the fifth seed, easily defeated her fellow American, Ashlyn Krueger, in straight sets, 6-2 6-0, in the first round of Wimbledon on a cloudy Tuesday in London.

Pegula, who reached the quarter-finals at the All England Club last year, secured an early break in the first game and quickly established a 4-0 lead within just 10 minutes.

Despite Krueger, ranked 75th, managing to get on the scoreboard and utilizing her impressive six feet, one inch frame to deliver powerful serves, Pegula remained unfazed throughout the match. The 30-year-old closed out the first set with an ace.

In the second set, Krueger found herself broken again in rapid succession. The youngster, making her main draw debut at Wimbledon, committed 29 unforced errors during the match.

Pegula sealed her victory with an ace, completing a comprehensive 49-minute win in Krueger's first appearance on the Wimbledon stage.
