, came out strongly on court allotment at the
Australian Open
. The Russian, the reigning US Open champion, came through the fourth-round match in four sets.
"I really don't know what I should do to play on centre courts in
Grand Slams
, I won the last Grand Slam. I'm the highest seed here," a fuming
Medvedev
said. "To play against Maxime would be easier on Rod Laver, more space. It's tougher on a smaller court."
Medvedev, who made the Australian Open final last year, said he hadn't approached the organizers.
"I don't want to put pressure on anybody. I rarely ask for time or the court unless somebody comes to me and says, where you want to play and when," he said.
The Russian had put in a request at Melbourne Park for choice of court once. "Maybe I have to ask every time," he said. "But I don't want to be the guy who says, put me on
Rod Laver
or I'm gonna be unhappy."
