In his first attempt, Ashok managed to lift 196kg. He then proceeded to lift 199kg in his second attempt. For his final lift, he significantly improved his performance by lifting 206kg.

However, despite this improvement, his efforts were insufficient to secure a spot on the podium. In a field of eight competitors, Ashok concluded the event in sixth position.

Yi Zou from China emerged victorious in the powerlifting event, securing the gold medal. Mark Swan, representing Britain, clinched the silver with a lift of 215kg. Hocine Bettir of Algeria claimed the bronze, managing a best effort of 213kg.

The sport of para powerlifting focuses on the bench press exercise, assessing the competitors' upper body strength. Although there is only one discipline, athletes participate in various weight categories.
