Connor Bedard skates for the Blackhawks after a shoulder injury in a December loss against Blues
The fans of the Chicago Blackhawks were given positive news on Monday when the star center Connor Bedard went on the ice for the first time since the right shoulder injury on December 12. Bedard, an injured player at the time of the blow, said in the defeat to the St. Louis Blues 3-2, said that he could see the stickhandling and move freely on the ice, but he did not shoot.
The blow has taken out Bedard, who is one of the brightest young players in the NHL, and the absence has left a noticeable hole in the offensive output of the Blackhawks. Since he was away, seven games later, Chicago has not been able to keep up with her, as the team has been 1-6-0 and outscored 30-15. However, no clear date for his return has been established yet.
Injuries and absences have also been taken care of by other players. Forward Frank Nazar has been on injured reserve since he was struck on the face by a puck during a December 20 game against the Ottawa Senators, and veteran captain Nick Foligno is back in practice after missing games since November 15. Right-wing Ilya Mikheyev also came back to practice after his first child was born.
Having had Bedard back on the ice in some minor form, the Chicago Blackhawks are hopeful to gain momentum. His brief return energized teammates and coaches, offering cautious optimism about recovery progress and availability.
