Where could Trevon Diggs land after sudden release by the Packers?

Trevon Diggs’ short stay with the Green Bay Packers has come to an abrupt end. Less than a month after signing him, the Packers decided to release the former All-Pro cornerback and make him a free agent once again opening the door for a new chapter in his NFL career.

He joined Green Bay in late December after being released by the Dallas Cowboys. The move was seen as a low-risk gamble for a team looking to add depth for the postseason. However, his impact was minimal. He played only two games for the Packers, recording just two tackles and one defensive snap in their playoff loss to the Chicago Bears.

Why was Trevon Diggs let go?

By letting Diggs go, Green Bay clears nearly $15.5 million in salary cap space for the 2026 season. For a team planning long-term roster changes, the financial flexibility mattered more than keeping a veteran corner who is still trying to regain his old form.



Once considered one of the league’s top ball-hawking defenders, Diggs’ career has taken a tough turn in recent seasons. He led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021 and earned Pro Bowl honors, but a torn ACL in 2023 slowed him down significantly. In 2025, opposing quarterbacks completed over 77 percent of their passes when targeting him, and his confidence and consistency clearly suffered.

Still at just 27 years old he is far from finished. Several teams could see value in signing him on a short-term, prove-it deal.

Two teams who could sign Trevon Diggs

Eagles are one of the most logical landing spots for him. With young corners like Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean already in place, Philadelphia does not need Diggs to be a full-time starter right away. Instead, he could play a rotational role, mentor younger players, and slowly rebuild his confidence.



The Jacksonville Jaguars are another team to watch. With several cornerbacks hitting free agency, they need experienced depth in their secondary. Diggs could provide insurance and also help develop rookie two-way star Travis Hunter on the defensive side.

Jacksonville’s recent success makes it an attractive destination for a veteran looking to contribute on a competitive roster.

At this stage of his career, Diggs is unlikely to command a massive contract. Instead he may have to settle for a one-year deal focused on playing time, health, and performance. Teams will want to see if he can stay healthy and rediscover the instincts that once made him one of the league’s best playmakers.
