Buffalo Bills quarterback
Josh Allen delivered a strong performance in Sunday’s 30-10 victory over the New York Jets, but one play early in the game sparked heated debate across social media. Allen was the recipient of a late hit by Jets defensive tackle Michael Clemmons on a third-down pass, drawing a roughing the passer penalty that extended Buffalo’s drive. The first-quarter penalty led to a James Cook touchdown and a quick 7-0 lead for the Bills.

Some critics argued that Josh Allen exaggerated the contact, noting that he “threw his head backward” as he was hit. KSHB producer Nick Jacobs commented on X, “What a flop by Josh Allen. He is giving Vlade Divac vibes.” Despite the chatter, replay footage shows Clemmons’ hit landed after the pass and made high contact with Allen’s helmet, making the penalty technically justified.

Later in the game, Allen faced a more serious moment when a short scramble up the middle left him with a bloody nose. Backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky temporarily replaced him while the Bills’ medical staff attended to Allen on the sideline. Allen later addressed the incident with reporters, downplaying the injury:
“We can breathe, so it’s good,” Allen said via Matt Parrino.
“I pulled (the ball) when I probably should have handed it off, I tried to throw it and I saw him push, decided to tuck it. I don’t know what hit me, if it was a knee, a hand, it was somebody, helmet just kind of came down right on the bridge of my nose and just started leaking.”
