The
Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly in discussions with quarterback Aaron Rodgers regarding a possible deal. While the specifics of the agreement are not yet finalized, there seems to be mutual interest between Rodgers and the Steelers; although Rodgers won't be officially released until the new league year begins on Wednesday, as this will help the Jets manage his salary cap hit over two years. But he has been given the green light to communicate with other teams, and it appears the Steelers are keen to wrap things up quickly. But how much can the veteran quarterback charge for signing with the Steelers?
How much money will Aaron Rodgers charge if he signs with the Steelers?
Recently, Rodgers has surfaced as a potential option compared to Matthew Stafford, since it’s widely believed he will ask for a lower price than whatever Stafford demands. However, this might not hold true for all teams.
One speculation from a source involved in the talks suggests a contract of two years for $90 million, with $40 million guaranteed upon signing.
Sports journalist Gerry Dulac revealed that he has learnt from reliable sources that the Steelers and Rodgers are getting close to a final contract. "The Steelers are getting close to a deal with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, per multiple sources," Dulac shared. "They decided to enter discussions with Rodgers and Sam Darnold when it became apparent Justin Fields wanted to test his value in the free-agent market."
At 41, Rodgers is gearing up to bounce back from one of his rare losing seasons in the NFL. Following a challenging year in New York, the future Hall of Famer, who is two years post a torn Achilles injury, is eager to vie for a Super Bowl with his third NFL team. If Rodgers joins the Steelers, he will have support from a bolstered roster, especially after the team traded with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire DK Metcalf.
