Mike Vrabel admits uncertainty as the New England Patriots continue offseason work

Speaking to reporters during Patriots offseason activities, Mike Vrabel sounded unsure when asked if he could miss more team events in the coming weeks. The Patriots coach did not make any promises about staying with the team full-time as the situation surrounding Dianna Russini continues to draw attention.


“I’m going to be out there today in full force, and I mean that, because who knows what’s going to come up? I’m not even, you know, anything could happen, and so I’m going to focus on today,” Mike Vrabel told reporters during Patriots media availability.

That line immediately sparked conversation around the league because Mike Vrabel had already stepped away from the Patriots earlier this year. During Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft in April, he left team activities to attend counseling sessions with his family.

The controversy first exploded after photos surfaced showing Vrabel and Russini together at an Arizona resort. Both are married and have children. Then the story gained more traction after older pictures from 2020 were reportedly found to show the two kissing.

Since then, reactions across the NFL world have stayed divided. Some people believe Vrabel’s personal life should remain private. Others questioned whether the situation crossed professional boundaries, given that Russini had worked as a prominent NFL insider for years.

Still, the Patriots have tried to keep their focus on football. Drake Maye publicly supported Mike Vrabel earlier this offseason, and the team continues preparations for what many expect to be another AFC title push. Maye finished as the MVP runner-up last season and ranked second in PFSN’s QB Impact metric.

Mike Vrabel also addressed missing the final day of the NFL Draft while speaking to reporters at the NFL Draft. He made it clear he does not regret stepping away.

“No, I don’t regret missing it,” Mike Vrabel said during the same media session. “They moved around, they made some trades. Excited about the players that we got.”

Currently, Mike Vrabel remains on the field with the Patriots. But after his latest comments, it is clear even he cannot say what comes next.
