Eagles suffer massive blow, Nolan Smith placed on IR before Buccaneers clash

The Philadelphia Eagles just picked up a big loss heading into their Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team announced on September 24, 2025, that star linebacker Nolan Smith is on injured reserve with a triceps injury. As a result, Smith will not be able to play in at least the next four contests, which includes the much-anticipated matchup with the Buccaneers. He subsequently worsened the injury in the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, which is why he was placed on injured reserve.

Safety Marcus Epps, tight end Cameron Latu, and cornerback Parry Nickerson were elevated from the practice squad to help fill out the roster. The practice squad also included linebacker Lance Dixon, defensive back Eli Ricks, and receiver Quez Watkins.


Moving forward in the season, the Eagles must change things up on defence without Smith around. Expect players like Jalyx Hunt, Joshua Uche, and Za'Darius Smith to step up in the pass rush department. The Eagles' depth and ability to adapt will be put to the test in their next game against the Buccaneers.
