NEW DELHI: Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a heel injury. Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed the decision on Friday, announcing that Brown will be placed on injured reserve.

Brown's absence marks the conclusion of a season where he made 14 starts, contributing 51 receptions for 574 yards and scoring four touchdowns for the struggling Cardinals, who currently stand at 3-12.

The 26-year-old receiver, a 2019 first-round pick, showcased his talent and versatility over his 72-game career, amassing 313 catches for 3,644 yards and reaching the end zone 28 times. Brown spent the initial part of his career with the Baltimore Ravens from 2019 to 2021 before joining the Arizona Cardinals.

This season, Brown played a pivotal role for the Cardinals, and his absence will be keenly felt as the team navigates the final stretch of the regular season.

The decision to place him on injured reserve reflects the seriousness of the heel injury, with the Cardinals opting for a cautious approach to ensure Brown's long-term health.

In terms of financials, Marquise Brown earned $13.4 million during the 2022 season, operating on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal. With his impending unrestricted free agency in March, Brown's future remains uncertain, and the injury adds an extra layer of complexity to the contract negotiations that may unfold in the offseason.
