NBA injury update: Dallas Mavericks' Anthony Davis set to miss a few games after leaving Christmas Day matchup against Golden State Warriors midway
Halfway through the second quarter of the Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, Mavs star Anthony Davis suffered from right groin spasms. He was seen walking out of the court and toward the bench, and then directly to the locker room, leaving his team in a tight spot. He was holding his groin, and looked to be limping slightly, and is not expected to miss a handful of the upcoming games.
He was seen stretching while on the bench, before his team decided to relieve him of his duties for the remainder of the game. This led to the announcement that he would be missing the rest of the game during the second half, and now, ESPN has reported that he would be missing a few more games to recuperate, as the team doesn't want to take any chances with him.
After leaving the Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors Christmas Day game at home, it has now been reported that Anthony Davis will be missing a few more of the upcoming games. He suffered from right groin spasms during the second quarter of the game, and moved out of the court to take some time to stretch and see if he could return. But his trainers and medical experts soon ruled him out for the rest of the game and Davis was seen going back to the Mavs locker room.
Initially, ESPN's Shams Charania reported the injury, writing, "Mavericks' Anthony Davis has a groin injury and is out for the remainder of the Christmas Day game against the Warriors." And now he has yet another update on the matter. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote,
"Mavericks star Anthony Davis has sustained a minor groin strain and is likely to miss a few games, sources tell ESPN. "
The Mavericks lost the game to the Warriors, 126-116, with Stephen Curry being the top scorer of the night with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Davis on the other hand only played 11 minutes, and scored 3 points and 3 rebounds. He will miss the team's next game against the Sacramento Kings, and will likely also miss their match-ups against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
