The buzz around
LeBron James’ retirement has been going on for a long time, but the NBA icon went on to prove to the world that age is just a number. Despite entering into his 40s officially and being down with a foot issue and sciatica pain, the unstoppable urge to give his best makes him stand out in the list of most talented and dedicated NBA stars in the history of the league.
Lakers’ coach JJ Redick did not hold back his words while talking about the criticism directed at LeBron James. Redick challenged the people who are busy taking a dig at the NBA legend, saying that they should be around him every day to witness all that he does for the team.
JJ Redick slams media for turning LeBron James' vulnerability into controversy for the Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron James diverts heads wherever he goes, whether it's his statement on his age or his dedication towards his team. Despite going through an issue in his foot and sciatica pain, the NBA icon is still giving his best with an injury-plagued roster. Lakers’ coach JJ Redick did not mince his words while defending James recently. During a postgame conference, he said,
“He got hit in the quad in the fourth quarter, and he’s already in the ice bath. He’s going to do everything he possibly can to play in his 23rd year. You know, he just said, ‘I’m going to, I’m going to try. I’m going to try to do everything I can do my normal routine, if I’m able to go."
Redick further added,
“I don’t take for granted the LeBron stuff. It’s unfortunate actually, not to go on a tangent here, but it’s actually unfortunate how much this guy puts into it and how much he cares. And the way certain people talk about it, it’s crazy! Come, be around him every day and see how much this guy cares. It’s off the charts.”
However, the decision of LeBron James to play in consecutive games despite being down with sciatica pain has been doing the rounds on the internet. His performance in the ongoing NBA season has been great, as after playing for almost half an hour against the Sacramento Kings, James went on to score 22 points but unfortunately missed all five of his shots from a three-point range.
