HR College beat Jai Hind for third TT title

MUMBAI: HR College completed a hat-trick of titles when they defeated Jai Hind College in the District Sports Office conducted table tennis tournament for boys' under-19 at the Dharavi Sports Complex recently. A total of 32 colleges participated in the event.HR began with a defeat when captain Krish Velkar lost hisopening game against Jai Hind's Manasvin Toprani 2-3. Trailing by a game,Nekzaad Kerawalla pulled one back for the champions when he defeated Jai Hind'sAnush Ranka 3-1.Utsav Daga then made it 2-1 in favour of HR when hedefeated Hardik Doshi 3-1 . Nekzaad then sealed it for HR when he demolishedManaswin 3-0.Earlier, HR had defeated Fort's Cathedral & JohnConnan 3-1."Despite being top seeds, we went into the tournament asunderdogs. While other teams had state and district players in their ranks, wehad none. Winning the title without the big names, is really commendable. Weplayed to our strengths and played very well as a unit," Krish said.
