NAGPUR: Notwithstanding the prevailing cold weather on Sunday morning, Shashikant Rahate, Ranjit Korudkar, Shubhangi Jagtap, Lata Hatwar and Aman Chore warmed the hearts of everyone by emerging champions in their respective categories in the Media Walkathon, organized by the Sports Journalists Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with Tirupati Urban Co-Operative Bank Ltd, here at the Ambedkar College ground.
In the men's below 50 years (4-km) meet, Ranjit Korudkar of Dainik Bhaskar triumphed. Ishwar Polkar of Sakal finished runner-up, while Lokmat's Rajesh Sharma placed third.
The Times of India (TOI) bagged the first two prizes in the above 50 years men's 4-km walk. Shashikant Rahate of TOI retained his title, while Alok Tiwari placed second. Arvind Upare of Lokmat had to be satisfied with the third spot.
In the women's 2-km walk, Shubhangi Jagtap of Lokshahi Varta reigned supreme pipping Anita Peddulwar of Dainik Bhaskar to the second spot. Lata Hatwar triumphed in the women's family 2-km section.
In the kids' 2-km race, Aman Chore clinched the top spot. Chaitali Nayse finished second, while Sairaj Nayse stood third.
CEO of Tirupati Bank Rajendra Raut, vice-principal of Dr Ambedkar College Arvind Joshi, NDFA vice-president Abdul Latif and NDAA secretary Sharad Suryavanshi distributed the prizes. SJAN president Kishor Bagde and former president Dr Ram Thakur were present on the occasion.
