“Never a baseball fan”: Throwback to when Derek Jeter's wife Hannah revealed being unaware of Yankees legend's massive fame in New York

The New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter's wife Hannah was least aware of how famous he indeed is when the couple first started dating each other. In fact, in an interview with "The Players' Tribune" in 2017, Hannah talked about how she wasn't interested in baseball, leading to her being unaware of her then-boyfriend's stardom in New York City.

In February 2017, "The Players’ Tribune" released an exclusive interview with Derek Jeter's wife Hannah Davis. During the interview, Davis recalled how she was "never a baseball fan." Thus, when she met Davis, she had no idea about the massive fame he holds, especially in New York City.

Hannah Davis recalled how she and Derek Jeter met during the offseason. Instead of relying on "Google" to see who she indeed is dating, Davis decided to explore that on her "own terms." Recalling her initial dating days and the fact that she kept Jeter's "fame" out of the picture, Davis said:

"Don’t get me wrong: I’d been living in the city for a couple of years — and I know I saw Yankees hats and probably a Jeter jersey or two (or 100), but they didn’t register. I grew up in the Virgin Islands, on St. Thomas, which is only about three miles wide. Baseball wasn’t really 'a thing.' We didn’t have professional teams to obsess over so I was never a baseball fan."


"Derek and I met during the off-season, and I think that was a lucky break. It let us spend some time together away from New York. I didn’t have any preconceptions about who he was, and I didn’t need much more to go on than this: I had met the nicest guy, and I wanted to get to know him on my own terms. Not Google’s," Davis further added.

Moving forward in the interview, Hannah Davis talked about how being in the "same place" has always been a huge factor in a relationship for her. And with Derek Jeter, the timings "aligned" perfectly, leading to their popular romance. Talking about the same, the model said:

"We met at the right time. To me, what matters in a relationship is being at the same place in your lives. And right from the start, I could tell that the timing of Derek’s life and mine were aligned."


Hannah Davis and Derek Jeter met each other for the first time through mutual friends, in 2012. The couple started dating and, in almost a few months, went public with their relationship in August of the same year. Almost three years into their relationship, the couple decided to exchange rings in an intimate ceremony.

According to PEOPLE, Hannah Davis and Derek Jeter got engaged in 2015. During her appearance at the CMA awards, Davis was spotted showing off her engagement ring publicly for the first time. Almost a year into being engaged, the couple tied the knot in California, in July 2016. Moreover, the couple are also parents to three daughters, River Raise, Story Grey, Bella Raine, and son Kaius Green.
