Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Angels made a new addition to the team when they decided to hire pitcher Kenley Jansen for a whopping $10 Million deal. After buzzing the internet with his performance, Jansen is making headlines for his sporting preferences. Recently, the Angels pitcher revealed his favorite NBA team.

Kenley Jansen reveals reason for being a Laker fan

After baseball, basketball comes out to be one of the favourite sports for Kenley Jansen. Thus, just like everyone else, Jansen was shocked with Luka Dončić's trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. Interestingly, he is among the Lakers fans who were happy about it.

On Tuesday, Kenley Jansen made an appearance on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast to talk about his plans with the Angeles, heading into the new season. Apart from talking about his signing, Jansen also revealed being a Lakers fan and how he has been more excited to cheer for his team since Dončić's trade. Talking about the text, he said:

"First of all, one of my friends texted me in a group chat (about the Doncic trade) and I was like, 'why starting things that are not real; stop that, I don't believe it.' Then I saw my agent text me about Luka and I'm like, 'Yo what.' And I'm like great time to be a Laker man, all those years we have been suffering, you know it's a great time to be a Laker."


In another segment of the podcast, Kenley Jansen sets his expectations straight from Mike Trout. Jansen explained wanting to see Trout and the Angels get into the playoffs this season. Sharing the details into his take, the pitcher said:
“I think it was such a great fit for me to be here and be a part to help this team to turn it around man, so I'm excited you know playing with one of the greatest players in the game right now is Mike Trout. My dream is to see him in the playoffs again.”

Before signing with the LA Angeles, Kenley Jansen played two seasons with the Boston Red Sox. Before his Red Sox signing, he played the 2022 season with the Atlanta Braves. In 2010, Jansen made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers and stayed with the team till 2021. Let's see what good the Angels bring out of Jansen.
