Tiger Woods injury update: Latest injury and recovery insights, amid continued absence from TGL
Tiger Woods has given updates about his latest status, on his recovery since surgery. The renowned golfer shared that he was moving to short irons, but before returning to action, he still needs more time to recover.
Tiger Woods witnessed the TGL match between his side, Jupiter Links GC, and New York Golf on Tuesday, January 13, at the SoFi Center in Florida. The 15-time major champion wasn't here to cheer on and support the team in their debut match. During the post-game press conference, Woods was asked about his chances to compete in season 2 of the tech-infused league. The professional golfer also shared the details about his rehab after undergoing back surgery last year.
"Well, I'm moving up to short irons, so that's about it," he answered. "I need a little bit more than that to be able to play here. At my speed right now, I could probably play the Stinger hole. Just kind of roll it off the tee. But no, I'm progressing, which is nice. I'm getting there and getting stronger."
He added, "It's just one of those things where it just takes so much time for the bone to heal and the bone to set."
Tiger Woods, the 82-time PGA Tour winner, claimed that the game was quite frustrating to watch from the outside.
"Participating and playing, yes, it is nerve-racking," he continued. "I'm not going to say it's not. But at least I have control. Watching my son play or watching these guys play out there, I have no control over that."
"I'm hoping they do their very best. I'm wishing for nothing but the best outcomes at all times, and it's frustrating when my son doesn't play well because he puts his heart and soul into it.”
Earlier in the season, Jupiter Links GC had a difficult start, losing to the New York Golf Club 8-3. Tiger Woods' team started well with three points in the first four holes, but NYGC turned the game around and didn't let the opponents add another point.
Jupiter Links GC, led by Tiger Woods, will play its second match against the Los Angeles Golf Club on Tuesday, January 20. Both teams will look for their first win after facing a defeat in their respective opening matches.
