Kyle Busch died on May 21 after severe pneumonia developed into sepsis, causing rapid complications, according to a statement released by his family and NASCAR. His sudden death shocked the racing community and left behind his wife Samantha, son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, 4. Busch was one of the most successful drivers in NASCAR history, winning two Cup Series championships and 234 races across NASCAR’s top three national series.

In her Instagram message, Samantha Busch spoke openly about the support her family has received since Kyle’s passing.

“The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives,” Samantha wrote. “While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.”

She also said that seeing people honor Kyle’s memory has helped bring comfort during a time of deep grief. Samantha thanked family members, friends, fans, and even strangers who reached out with messages of support.

The couple had recently celebrated their son Brexton’s 11th birthday before tragedy struck. Just days later, Kyle became unresponsive while testing a Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina, and was taken to a hospital in Charlotte. He later died after complications linked to severe pneumonia and sepsis.

Busch’s final NASCAR Cup Series start came at the All-Star Race on May 17, where he finished 17th. He had been preparing for the Coca-Cola 600 before his hospitalization. Earlier reports also noted that he had been dealing with a sinus illness in the weeks leading up to his death.
