Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher is back in headlines after marrying his longtime partner Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne in Saint-Tropez, France. The private ceremony took place over the weekend and quickly drew attention online after new photos from the celebration surfaced. Ralf, 50, and Etienne, 36, celebrated the wedding with close friends and family nearly two years after the former racer publicly came out as gay in July 2024.

The wedding also brought fresh attention to Ralf Schumacher’s relationship with his ex-wife Cora Schumacher. Just before the ceremony, Cora shared a statement with German outlet BILD that many people online believed carried a subtle message aimed at her former husband. She said, “They always say: True love finds a way. In some cases, it just takes a little longer until everyone at the racetrack really knows which way the race is headed. Nevertheless, all the best for your wedding.” The comment quickly sparked discussion because of the racing reference and the history between the former couple.

Ralf Schumacher and Cora Schumacher were married from 2001 until 2015 and share a son, David Schumacher, who is now 24 years old. Their relationship became tense after Ralf publicly revealed his relationship with Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne in 2024. At the time, Cora openly admitted she struggled emotionally with the news and even claimed she felt she had “wasted her best years.” She also once publicly asked Ralf to leave her alone so she could “heal in peace.”

Still, things now appear calmer between them. Before the wedding, Cora and her former partner Steven Bo Bekendam had already wished the couple happiness publicly, though reports now say the pair are no longer together.

Photos from the wedding showed Ralf and Etienne wearing matching navy suits with bright blue ties inside Saint-Tropez Town Hall. Their son David served as Ralf’s best man, while Etienne was joined by his mother, Helene. The celebration later moved to a luxury yacht club on the French Riviera, where guests dressed in white for the reception.

Other pictures captured the couple sharing their first dance and cutting a massive wedding cake surrounded by sparklers and towers of macarons. Reports also said the celebrations lasted three days and included a boat ride through the Gulf of Saint-Tropez on a speedboat once owned by music legend Elton John.

The relationship between Ralf and Etienne is also being featured in a Sky Germany documentary. In the show, Etienne said, “I was in love at first sight,” while Ralf joked that it took him longer to feel the same way.
