Neil Robertson shares shocking oxygen tank video after Scottish Open withdrawal
Neil Robertson shared a video on social media showcasing himself using oxygen while in Tibet, adjusting to high altitude. Days after he shared this video, he withdrew from competing in the Scottish Open Tournament due to injury and the effect of altitude. He has been able to use this opportunity to inform fans of the struggles he is facing off the table during such a difficult time in his life.
Neil Robertson withdrew from competing due to injury, about four hours before the start of the Scottish Open. He later disclosed that he withdrew from the tournament due to being injured from a strain in his hip bone. As a result, he needed to rest from the competition instead of taking part in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year.
Neil Robertson was able to generate attention for his video because it was a snapshot of him in his hotel room connected to an oxygen cylinder. He explained in this video that the high altitude in Tibet has made daily activities challenging for him, so he is using the extra oxygen to assist him in getting acclimated to this type of environment.
Neil Robertson, the professional snooker player, had originally planned to go to Lhasa, Tibet (which is located approximately 3,600 meters above sea level) because this location has been known historically to be a place where people have difficulty breathing due to the high elevation.
Neil Robertson received an oxygen canister (used to assist with breathing) from their hotel, which is a normal practice for hotels located in this area of Tibet. Neil Robertson said he had received numerous warnings from people about how horrible it would be to visit Lhasa. Neil Robertson admitted that after spending time in Lhasa, he realized how serious the situation really was.
Neil also informed everyone that other professional snooker players, such as Mark Williams, had given him warnings about conditions before he arrived in Lhasa. Neil Robertson said he thought their comments were somewhat of a joke; however, after arriving, he learned that they were correct.
Neil Robertson will participate in an exhibition with Kyren Wilson and Mark Williams, and Chinese players Wu Yize and Xiao Guodong. Neil Robertson stated that he was struggling with the altitude for this exhibition and would not travel above Lhasa.
Neil Robertson's fans can rest assured that his reason for not participating in the Scottish Open was due to injury and not because of being unwell. Neil Robertson appears to be concentrating on supporting his recovery while attending to his commitments to exhibitions so he can come back and compete fully in a competitive setting during the remainder of the season.
