Chennaiyin looked poised to get even with the ISL debutants when they finished the regulation 90 minutes with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from PC Laldinpuia (10th minute) and Lukas Brambilla (49).

As the fourth referee flashed nine minutes of stoppage time on the board, the hosts turned the contest on its head in a remarkable manner.

At the heart of their comeback was Manvir Singh Saini. He first struck home the hosts’ first goal and then earned a penalty, which was duly converted by Remsanga Fanai. Mohammedan SC players celebrated the way it was taken as a victory.
