PUNE: The season couldn't get more frustrating for Odisha FC. On Wednesday, after missing simple chances and conceding a scruffy goal, they lost 0-1 to
Bengaluru FC at the Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex in the Indian Super League.
While Odisha defender
Diawandou Diagne
struck the goalpost from two yards, BFC's defender Juanan Gonzalez's optimistic attempt hit the post and went in to get his side their first victory on the road this season.
Both sides deployed the same shape with two defensive midfielders, which prompted Odisha's striker
Aridane Santana
to drift to wider positions to find spaces. The hosts could barely pose a threat in the opening minutes of the game. Xisco Hernandez, who usually produces Odisha's attacking chances, was shut down by BFC's midfield duo of
Dimas Delgado
and
Erik Paartalu
.
However, Odisha got their best two chances in the 15th minute, which came from a counter attack and set-piece.
This win takes Bengaluru on top of the table win 13 points in seven games. ATK are at second with 11 points and a match in hand.
