Mohun Bagan's Spanish defender
Fran Morante
had a beautiful welcome when he reached home in Cordoba on Wednesday after a long and hectic journey from Kolkata which had started on Sunday.
His two dogs --- Miko and Lolo --- were extremely excited to see him after more than nine months and were not ready to let him go. "My dogs went absolutely crazy when they saw me," Morante said on Thursday.
The Spanish players, coaches, members of the coaching staff of Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and
East Bengal
left the city on Sunday morning and reached New Delhi on Monday after almost a 30-hour bus journey. They then boarded a special flight to Amsterdam in the early hours of Tuesday before reaching Madrid on Wednesday. Morante then proceeded to Cordoba.
"It was a very hard and tiring journey. Thirty hours in bus, cumulative 10 hours of flight journey, two hours by train and one-day stopover in Amsterdam. We were in a group which made things better. The great thing about the trip is the gift to meet my loved ones again," added Morante, who played an extremely crucial role in Mohun Bagan's I-League-winning campaign. "The best part was the hug with my girlfriend especially after having not seen her for so long. My girlfriend had also prepared a very emotional surprise for me in which my friends had sent audio clips for me. It was a very nice surprise for me."
Morante was scheduled to get married to his girlfriend Elizabeth in June. However, owing to the current scenario, it has been postponed. "We have had to postpone the wedding because of the Covid-19 situation. But, now it is time to enjoy with the family," he said.

player terms the 2019-20 season as incredible. "I don't know where I will play next season but, for me, this season has been incredible and we emerged as champions of the
I-League
. The Mohun Bagan fans have been great to us," added Morante.
