Yan Law
is more than pleased to have signed with
Aizawl FC
as their new head coach.
Law is yet to join the team since he is still in quarantine and is looking to spend this time getting to know other teams in I-League better.
He, however, was at the stands during Aizawl's last match against
Gokulam Kerala
and is more than hopeful that the team from northeast will put up another good performance and grab all three points on offer when they face Indian Arrows in their I-League encounter on Sunday.
Currently they are placed sixth on the table with one win and one loss from two matches. "They were absolutely brilliant against Gokulam. Saw the never-say-die attitude and I was really impressed with that. I hope we can keep up this momentum," said Law, who is in quarantine at the team hotel.
Speaking further about the team, Law added, "I don't see any weakness in the team yet. The players are highly motivated and they have tremendous potential. Since almost everybody in the team will be younger than me, I will also be able to express myself better with the boys."
Law, who became the youngest-ever Indian to have an AFC A License, meanwhile, believes that the new format of the tournament will suit the former champions.
Asked about his approach, Law said, "Every coach has a different approach. Some teams play good football and lose, while others play bad football and win but Aizawl will look to play good football and win the matches and show the country what the People's Club can do."
As far as Aizawl's match against Arrows is concerned, it should be an easy one for the team from Mizoram. The Arrows have lost all three matches and have conceded as many as 12 goals to be placed at the bottom.
On the other hand, Aizawl had a good outing against Gokulam despite playing most of the match with only two foreigners. The players from Mizoram outshone each other as they kept the Gokulam defence always on their toes.
In the second half, when Gokulam started to dominate, the Aizawl defence did not buckle under the pressure and held on really well. Considering how MC Malsawmzuala and Lalremsanga played against Gokulam, one can expect great things from them once again.
TRAU face Chennai City: In the other match of the day,
TRAU FC
will take on Chennai City FC. The Imphal-based team have drawn all their three matches and are placed 10th on the roster. Compared to them, Chennai City have fared better having won one and lost one.
TRAU played well against
Mohammedan SC
and were 2-0 up at one stage but some poor defending saw Mohammedan score two goals in the second half and earn a draw. As for Chennai, they went down to
Real Kashmir
in their last and will look to bounce back on Sunday.
