KOLKATA: A day before FC Bengaluru United's I-League qualifiers campaign kicks-off, team's assistant coach and former India defender Gouramangi Singh found himself in a spot of bother for allegedly breaching the AIFF protocols.
The 34-year-old on Wednesday posted a picture on instagram, where he was seen next to a team official, meeting two women, at a posh city hotel where the team is residing.
The two women, with whom he was seen are not part of the bio-bubble.
The former India international was seen maintaining social distance in the picture, but it is definitely a breach of rules as after entering the bio-bubble, no one allowed to interact with anyone outside it. Although Gouramangi was quick to delete the post, damage had been done.
It has been learnt that AIFF has taken note and will investigate the issue.
With the qualifiers being held against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, the AIFF has prepared a bio-secure bubble and maintained strict health protocols for the safety of players and support staff.
All players and support staff are being tested before entry into the bio-bubble and during the course of the tournament as part of the protocol.
Therefore, not just the players, the team officials too need to be very careful in ensuring that the strict bio-bubble is not breached.
Bengaluru United will take on Bhawanipore FC in opening match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday.
