Mendy will take City to an employment tribunal in a bid to recoup what the French left-back believes were "unauthorised deductions from wages" after he was charged with rape and sexual assault two years ago.

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is poised to file a lawsuit against the Premier League champions, asserting that he is owed substantial sums in unpaid wages.
Mendy intends to bring his case to an employment tribunal, seeking to recover what he perceives as "unauthorized deductions from wages" during the period when he faced charges of rape and sexual assault two years ago.

Although the 29-year-old was acquitted of the aforementioned charges, he parted ways with City when his contract concluded in June.
The contention arises from the claim that City ceased payment to Mendy in September 2021, coinciding with the initial charges and his subsequent detention.
"Nick De Marco KC... is acting for the former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy in a multi-million-pound claim for unauthorised deductions from wages," a statement on behalf of Mendy told Sky Sports and The Guardian.
"Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023. The claim will come before an employment tribunal."

In January, Mendy was acquitted of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. However, the jury was unable to reach verdicts on two charges, leading to a retrial.
During the retrial in July, Mendy was found not guilty on those two charges.
Mendy, who reportedly received a weekly salary of around £100,000 ($125,000) from City, is now seeking the reimbursement of wages owed to him until the conclusion of his contract with the treble-winning team.
Having secured three Premier League championships with City, Mendy's last appearance for Pep Guardiola's team was in 2021. He subsequently joined French club Lorient at the beginning of the current season.
