NAGPUR: All eyes were on

Dharmendra Ahlawat

as

Navniketan Cricket Club

needed 5 runs off the last ball. Ahlawat, who had completed his century a ball earlier, was facing

Kushal Kakad

of

MRCC

in the last over of the semifinal match of the

Guzder League T20

match.

Right-hand opener Ahlawat (106*; 59b, 5x6, 8x4), who single-handedly took Navniketan close to the target, hit Kakad out of the park for a huge six over midwicket. Even before umpire could signal a six, Ahlawat sprinted towards the pavilion in jubilation shouting at the top of his voice as Navniketan recorded a tense 4-wicket victory at Railways ground, Ajni.

Chasing 207 for win, Navniketan Cricket Club needed 16 off last over bowled by Kakad. Ahlawat played all the balls, completed his century and scored 17 runs as Navniketan went on to score 208 for 6 in 20 overs.

Apart from Ahlawat, No. 4 S Bhattacharya (44 off 22) provided good support to Ahlawat. Bhattacharya hit four sixes and a four during his stay at the wicket. No. 7 Swapnil Bhisikar (27 off 13b) made vital runs.

Earlier, MRCC's opener Ankush Wakode (69 off 44b) and No. 3 Shrikant Wagh (50 off 27b) batted well to take their team to well-made 206 for 6 in 20 overs. The Wakode-Wagh duo added 84 runs for the second wicket. Kakad (27) and Nitesh Sharma (22) scored some important runs later in the innings.
