In Cape Town, SA posted a commanding first-innings total of 615 runs, which included a double century (259) by opener Ryan Rickletone and hundreds by Bavuma (106) and wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne (100).
The home team's bowlers performed brilliantly as well, restricting Pakistan to 194 runs, which enabled South Africa to enforce the follow-on.
Despite Pakistan captain Shan Masood's valiant effort of 145 runs, his team struggled to mount a substantial challenge in the second innings and could only take a 57-run lead, which SA openers knocked off in just 7.1 overs for a comprehensive win.
It gave South Africa a PCT of 69.44 on the World Test Championship (WTC) table, securing them the top position. They will face defending champions Australia in the WTC final at Lord's in June this year.
