‘Mumbaicha Raja kaun? Rohit Sharma!’: Fans go berserk for India's ODI captain - Watch
India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma was greeted by a massive crowd in Mumbai as he stepped out to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. Videos and photos circulating widely on social media show the 38-year-old cricketer performing rituals before being surrounded by fans as he left the venue.
The scenes quickly turned chaotic as a crowd gathered around his car. Rohit was seen acknowledging the crowd, poking his head out from the sunroof and waving to the fans who had blocked the vehicle from all sides.

The crowd also chanted ""Mumbaicha Raja, Rohit Sharma" as he waved to the fans. A fan surprisingly also held up a cricket bat, as seen in a viral video on X.
This latest appearance comes after Sharma had recently made headlines for light-hearted video of him joking with team physiotherapist Amit Dubey, where he said “Ajao chhod deta hu tumko (Come on, I’ll drop you off)”, had gone viral, showing a relaxed side of the senior batter.
Sharma, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, last turned out for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad. On the international stage, his most recent appearance came in the Champions Trophy final in March, where his 76-run knock against New Zealand helped India lift the trophy.
He is expected to return to action in October when India play a three-match ODI series in Australia. Ahead of that tour, Sharma and Virat Kohli are also slated to feature for India A in a preparatory one-day series against Australia A in Kanpur later this month.
Rohit also made headlines recently when former Mumbai Indians bowler Rahul Chahar revealed how reassuring and relaxed the veteran is in the way he backs youngsters and encourages them after difficult games.
