'Best time': Yashasvi Jaiswal posts photo with Rishabh Pant and Akash Deep at BCCI CoE
NEW DELHI: A day after India announced their squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal offered fans a glimpse of life at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. On Friday, Jaiswal posted an Instagram story featuring himself alongside India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and pacer Akash Deep.

“Having a best time in CoE,” Jaiswal captioned the photo, highlighting the camaraderie among players, even those unavailable for the upcoming series. While Jaiswal has been named in the squad for the home Tests starting in Ahmedabad on October 2, Pant and Akash Deep missed out due to injury recovery and fitness considerations.
The Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, also named Jasprit Bumrah in the squad, who had played only three of the five Tests during the England tour due to workload management. Devdutt Padikkal has replaced an off-colour Karun Nair in the lineup, and Ravindra Jadeja will serve as vice-captain under Shubman Gill’s leadership. The second Test will be held in Delhi from October 10.
Regular vice-captain Pant is recovering from a foot fracture sustained in England and is expected to be available for the South Africa home Tests in November. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan have been named as wicket-keepers.
The series against the West Indies marks an important opportunity for players to solidify their positions in the Test side. The full South Africa tour will feature two Tests in Kolkata and Guwahati from November 14 to 26, followed by a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series, concluding with the final T20I on December 19.
