IND vs ENG: 'Who would want to be a bowler?' – Pat Cummins slams Edgbaston pitch with nearly 1700 runs scored
Australia skipper Pat Cummins couldn't resist a cheeky dig at the Edgbaston pitch after watching India notch up a thumping 336-run win over England in the second Test.
Under new Test captain Shubman Gill, India rewrote history at Edgbaston, securing their first-ever win at the venue. The visitors posted a mammoth 608-run target, and England folded for just 271 on what was largely a batting-friendly surface.

During a press conference after Australia's own Test win over West Indies in Grenada, Cummins was quizzed about the Edgbaston pitch. His response was tongue-in-cheek, but laced with a pacer’s frustration.
“Who would want to be a bowler over there?” Cummins laughed. “Not surprised it was the third flattest wicket in England’s history.”
While India and England are battling it out in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Cummins’ Australia were busy wrapping up a 133-run win over the Windies in completely different conditions. The pacer couldn’t help but compare the surfaces.
“Test cricket here and there — it feels like two different sports,” he said. “Didn’t watch too much of it but saw the scores. Looks like it’s going to be a cracking series. 1-1 now, right?”
With a bit of humour and a lot of insight, Cummins summed up what many bowlers watching the Edgbaston Test must have been thinking. Flat decks or not, the India-England series is heating up, and so is the banter from the sidelines. The third Test between India and England set to begin on Thursday, July 10 at Lord’s.
