NEW DELHI: India's fast bowler Avesh Khan has praised Shubman Gill's leadership, calling him a "bowler's captain." Avesh highlighted Gill's supportive captaincy, which played a significant role in helping him take key wickets in the ongoing T20I series against Zimbabwe.

In the third T20I match held in Harare, Gill top-scored with a 49-ball 66, setting a 183-run target for Zimbabwe. Avesh contributed with figures of 2 for 39, leading to India's 23-run victory and a 2-1 series lead.

Avesh appreciated Gill's leadership style during a post-match interview with Sony Sports. He emphasized how Gill grants bowlers freedom and steps in with his plans when needed.

"Shubman Gill is a bowler's captain. He gives a lot of freedom to the bowlers. He gives them a chance to set their own fields. He always backs you if you are executing your plans," Avesh said. "If things go slightly awry and you get hit, he brings his own plan and tells you what needs to be done. That always helps a lot. He has contributed to me getting one or two wickets."

Avesh also discussed his approach to bowling and his flexibility during different game phases.

"Whenever I talk to the captain, I tell him that I have no preferences about when to bowl, that he can make me bowl anytime and I am always ready. I always bowl with the attitude to pick up wickets for the team," he added.

3rd T20I: India secure 23-run win over Zimbabwe

3rd T20I: India secure 23-run win over Zimbabwe

Captain Shubman Gill struck a fluent half-century as India claimed a 23-run win over hosts Zimbabwe in the third T20 international in Harare on Wednesday to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

A youthful India side without several members of their victorious World Cup squad elected to bat and posted 182 for four in their 20 overs.

India’s innings was anchored by an excellent 66 off 49 balls from opener Gill, before Ruturaj Gaikwad added a breezy 49 from 28 balls to lift the touring side to a formidable score.

Only home seamer Blessing Muzarabani (2-25) and Pakistan-born spinner Sikandar Raza (2-24) managed to stem the runs.

Zimbabwe slumped to 39 for five after seven overs, but an excellent sixth-wicket stand of 77 between Myers and Clive Madande (37 from 26 balls) gave them the slimmest of victory hopes.

India spinner Washington Sundar took 3-15 in four overs, however, including the key wicket of Madande, and the visitors closed out a comfortable win.

Gill's captaincy and performance were crucial in leading the youthful Indian side to a significant victory in the series.

Avesh has been a standout performer for India in the series, securing six wickets at an economy rate of 7.54 in the first three games. His best performance came in the second game, where he achieved figures of 3/15, contributing significantly to India's 100-run victory.

In the third T20I, Shubman Gill's solid batting efforts and Avesh Khan's critical wickets were pivotal in India taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against Zimbabwe.
