NEW DELHI: Indian skipper Virat Kohli produced a stupendous flying effort on the field to run out Kiwi batsman Henry Nicholls during the first One-day International (ODI) between India and New Zealand in Hamilton on Wednesday.

Chasing a stiff 348-run target, New Zealand were 171/3 in 28.3 overs when the incident took place.

The ball bowled by Jasprit rolled off Ross Taylor's pads and Nicholls called for a quick single. But Virat had other plans.

Running in from short extra cover, Kohli picked up the ball and released it in a flash while diving forward mid-air to hit the stumps directly.

Nicholls tried to dive in, but Virat had beaten him to it.

As soon as the ball hit the wicket, Kohli was seen roaring 'C'mon' making it clear that he had got Nicholls run out.

With the dismissal Nicholls’ stay at the crease ended at 78.

This was a very important wicket for India, especially at that stage of the match. The partnership between the well set Nicholls and Taylor was looking dangerous.
