NEW DELHI: The record-breaking opening day of the first Test between India and Australia in Perth not only had fans on the edge of their seats but also caught the attention of former captain and head coach
Rahul Dravid.
Dravid, now the head coach of the
Rajasthan Royals and busy preparing for the IPL 2025 mega auction, was spotted in a video shared by the franchise on their X handle, asking for the score of the match.
"Difficult to not keep up with scores when it's Day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," RR captioned the post.
India staged a remarkable comeback after being dismissed for 150, claiming seven wickets in the final session to gain a strong advantage on an eventful opening day in Perth.
The hosts found themselves in serious trouble at 67-7 at stumps, following stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional bowling performance that dismantled the Australian batting lineup. He finished the day with impressive figures of 4-17.
Australia remained 83 runs behind and faced the possibility of recording their lowest total against India, which currently stands at 83 from their 1981 encounter.
Alex Carey was unbeaten on 19 and
Mitchell Starc not-out six.
After opting to bat the visitors were blown away in their innings, no match for the hosts' lethal pace attack with Josh Hazlewood taking 4-29.
