NEW DELHI: Ben Stokes achieved a historic milestone as the first England player to amass more than 10,000 runs and secure over 100 wickets in international cricket.
This remarkable feat was accomplished following his impressive 108-run innings against the Netherlands during the ODI World Cup match in Pune. As of that match, Stokes had accumulated a total of 10,081 runs in international cricket.
Joining the ranks of elite cricketers, Stokes finds himself in the company of legends like Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, and Sanath Jayasuriya, all of whom have crossed the 10,000-run and 100-wicket mark in their international careers.
In the realm of ODIs, the 32-year-old all-rounder made his debut in 2011. He went on to participate in 113 matches, contributing 3,379 runs with the bat and claiming 74 wickets as a bowler in this 50-over format.
Stokes made his debut in Test cricket in 2013 and subsequently played in 97 Test matches. During his Test career, he showcased his prowess by amassing 6,117 runs with the bat and taking an impressive tally of 197 wickets as a bowler in the longest format of the game.
In the fast-paced world of Twenty20 cricket, the left-handed batsman made his debut in 2011 and tallied 585 runs, while also displaying his bowling skills by capturing 26 wickets in this shortest format of the game.
Meanwhile, Stokes has slammed five ODI centuries with an average of 40.71. He also smashed 13 hundreds in Test cricket with a 36.41 average.
