NEW DELHI: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in Ahmedabad is fully prepared to accommodate cricket fans arriving for the ODI World Cup 2023 final at Narendra Modi Stadium, as stated in a release by the airport. The airport emphasised its commitment to prioritise scheduled flights and passenger convenience during this high-profile event.
The release urged all passengers travelling through SVPI Airport to allocate additional time for travel-related formalities and mandatory security protocols. Security teams in the terminal and landside are on standby, with dynamic resource allocation based on passenger load to ensure a smooth transit experience.
Passengers were also notified about airspace closure for an Air display by the Indian Air Force on November 17 and 19 from 13.25 hours to 14.10 hours.
SVPI Airport boasts a dedicated General Aviation terminal in Ahmedabad to facilitate smoother and faster facilitation for domestic and international passengers travelling through non-scheduled aircraft. The airport has 15 stands available for night parking during the event, with six stands allocated for business jet aircraft operations. Airlines have been requested to support timely slots and enhanced resources for an improved passenger experience.
In anticipation of potential demand for night parking exceeding the availability of stands for standard parking, the airport has prepared an SOP for non-standard parking of aircraft. Additionally, Ahmedabad Airport has coordinated with neighbouring airports to accommodate visiting aircraft at adjoining airports for night parking if needed.
The airport has accepted requests from commercial airlines to operate additional flights to metro cities, aiming to serve the maximum number of passengers intending to travel during the ODI World Cup final match.
With India and Australia securing their spots in the final, SVPI Airport is gearing up for an influx of cricket enthusiasts, ensuring a seamless and efficient travel experience for all attendees.
