went down to the wire to decide the top two positions. Table-toppers India will take on 2015 finalist and fourth-placed New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament on Tuesday (July 9) at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Second-placed Australia will face hosts England, who finished third, in the second semi-final on Thursday (July 11) at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Defending champions Australia's defeat at the hands of South Africa, in the thrilling final league match of the tournament, confirmed India's top position on the points table with 15 points in nine games - 7 wins, 1 defeat and 1 washed out.

Australia (14) ended up a point behind India with 7 victories and two losses while England, who had 6 wins and 3 defeats, finished on third position with 12 points.

Kiwis, who got 11 points with 5 wins, 3 defeats and 1 washed out, edged out Pakistan on a better net run rate to finish fourth and make the last-four stage.



On the last day of the league stage, prolific opener David Warner smashed a brilliant 122 but could not claim victory for Australia as they slipped to a 10-run defeat to South Africa in their World Cup clash at Old Trafford.



Earlier, centurion Rohit Sharma - who became the first player to make five centuries in a single World Cup - and his opening partner KL Rahul also struck a fluent century as India crushed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their final group match to go top.
