Naveen ul Haq had made an unexpected return to Afghanistan's ODI squad for the World Cup, marking his comeback to the format after a two-year absence. Despite his relatively young age, Naveen has already made a significant impact on Afghanistan's cricket scene. While he has featured in only seven ODIs, he has become a vital component of the national team's T20 International setup since his international debut in 2016.

Afghanistan had named a strong and competitive squad for the prestigious World Cup tournament in India, with Naveen's return being one of the major talking points. Alongside Naveen, Afghanistan boasts a formidable pace attack that includes the likes of Fazalhaq Farooqi, Abdul Rahman, and Omarzai.

Naveen ul Haq's decision to step away from ODIs at such a young age raises questions about the reasons behind his retirement from the format. Nonetheless, his contributions to Afghan cricket, especially in the T20 format, have been noteworthy, and his presence on the international stage will likely be missed in the fifty-overs version of the game.
