Smriti Mandhana loses top spot! Laura Wolvaardt claims No.1 ODI rank with record run
South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has climbed to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, overtaking India’s Smriti Mandhana following a record-breaking campaign at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
Wolvaardt’s consistent run through the tournament, capped by centuries in both the semi-final and final, helped her move two places up to No. 1 with a career-best rating of 814 points. Her tally of 571 runs was the highest ever in a single edition of the Women’s World Cup.
Mandhana, who led India to their maiden World Cup title in Navi Mumbai, slipped to second place with 811 rating points. The Indian opener had held the No. 1 position throughout the tournament and was named in the ICC Team of the Tournament.
There were notable chnages across the other rankings as well. India’s Deepti Sharma, who was named Player of the Tournament, moved up to fourth in the all-rounder standings with 392 rating points after taking seven wickets and scoring 82 runs in the knockout stages.
She took Australia’s Annabel Sutherland's spot, who now sits fifth on 388.
India’s Jemimah Rodrigues also made major gains, entering the top ten following her match-winning hundred against Australia in the semi-final in Navi Mumbai. Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield jumped a whopping 13 places to 13th after scoring a century in the same match.
Among bowlers, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp rose to second place after her 5/20 against England in the semi-final, closing in on England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who continues to lead the charts.
Australia’s Ellyse Perry moved up to seventh in the batting rankings with 669 points, level with New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, who recently announced her retirement from ODIs.
India’s Shree Charani climbed seven places to 23rd in the bowling rankings after taking three wickets across the semi-final and final, while South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk entered the top ten following her three wickets in the final two matches of the tournament.
