India’s emphatic win over Australia in Navi Mumbai on Thursday confirmed the two finalists for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
The hosts will face South Africa in the final, a one-off match at 3:00 pm local time on Sunday. The winner will claim the Women’s World Cup trophy for the first time in the tournament’s history.
This marks South Africa’s first appearance in a Women’s World Cup Final, while India have previously reached the final in 2005 and 2017, finishing as runners-up to Australia and England, respectively.
Sunday’s final returns to the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, the venue where India enjoyed a memorable semi-final victory over Australia. A large, passionate crowd is expected to pack the ground.
India finished undefeated at this venue during the tournament, with wins over New Zealand in the group stage and Australia in the semi-finals, plus a no-result against Bangladesh. South Africa, by contrast, have never played at this venue.
