Ellyse Perry makes history, becomes only Australian cricketer to achieve this feat
Ellyse Perry has become the first female cricket player to represent Australia in 350 international matches across formats. She reached the milestone during the third T20I against India in Adelaide on Saturday.
Perry made her international debut at 16 against New Zealand in July 2007, without playing senior domestic cricket before that.
She now trails only Harmanpreet Kaur (357) and Suzie Bates (355) in the list of most-capped players in women’s international cricket.
Perry has also played football for Australia and featured in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, becoming the first woman to represent her country in World Cups in two different sports.
She drew attention early in her career with an unbeaten 29 and four wickets on her T20I debut against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. At the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2010, she finished as Australia’s leading wicket-taker.
Perry began as a fast bowler and batted at No. 9 in her early years. Over time, she developed her batting and became a regular No. 3 or No. 4 in the line-up.
Her record includes eight world titles with Australia, 11 WNCL titles with New South Wales, two WBBL titles with Sydney Sixers, and one WPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
In 14 women’s Tests, she has scored 930 runs, including a double century, at an average of 58. She has scored 4,505 runs in 165 WODIs at an average of 48. In 171 WT20Is, she has scored 2,200 runs and taken 126 wickets. She has also taken 39 wickets in Tests and 166 in ODIs.
