'We need to plan...': Ravindra Jadeja optimistic despite England's aggressive style

NEW DELHI: India's all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shared his perspective on the upcoming third Test against England, expressing confidence despite the visitors' aggressive approach.

"I won't term England as [one of the most difficult] teams," Jadeja remarked, highlighting India's historical dominance on home soil.

He emphasized the need for adaptation to England's aggressive style, stating, "We need to get used to that and plan accordingly for them."

Reflecting on India's performance in the series opener, Jadeja commented, "If it wasn't for small mistakes in the second innings of the first Test, we wouldn't have lost."

Despite missing the second Test due to a hamstring injury, he remains upbeat about his return for the pivotal third Test.

Addressing concerns about injuries, Jadeja acknowledged the physical toll of modern cricket, stating, "It is frustrating, but cricket has increased these days."

He emphasized the need for caution, adding, "I would like to give my 100 per cent and save my body and keep away from diving when not required."

Looking ahead to the pitch conditions, Jadeja anticipated a flat and hard surface initially, but he noted the unpredictable nature of the pitch in previous matches.

Ben Stokes' six best performances in Test cricket
Ben Stokes provided England with a rare highlight during a miserable 2013/14 Ashes with a gutsy fourth-innings hundred against an impressive Australia pace attack.
Ben Stokes' dashing innings (92 followed by an 85-ball hundred -- the quickest in a Test at Lord's) and crucial wickets against New Zealand turned the game in England's favor.
Ben Stokes' exceptional catch and swing bowling helped England regain the Ashes against Australia in 2015.
Stokes struck the second-fastest Test double century of all time, off just 163 balls against South Africa in 2016. He hit 30 fours and 11 sixes in total and also shared a partnership of 399 with Jonny Bairstow.
Having carefully played himself in, Stokes -- with just last man Jack Leach for company, hit out in spectacular fashion to secure a scarcely credible one-wicket win against Australia in 2019.
Stokes helped turn things around with a composed hundred in Manchester and also took top-order wickets in both of South Africa's innings as England returned to winning ways in 2022.

"Here the wicket behaves differently in every game," he said, expressing expectations for assistance to spinners as the match progresses.

Jadeja's insights provide valuable perspective on India's mindset and strategy heading into the crucial third Test against England.

Despite challenges, he remains optimistic about India's prospects and emphasizes the importance of adaptability and precaution in the face of stiff competition.
