Asia Cup: Suryakumar Yadav’s IND vs BAN playing XI boasts ICC’s top batter, all-rounder, and bowler; four changes for Bangladesh

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field against India in their crucial Super 4 clash, hoping to put early pressure on Suryakumar Yadav’s in-form side. With Litton Das sidelined due to a practice injury, wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali has been handed the captaincy and responsibility of leading a side featuring several changes.

For India, the spotlight is on their spinners. Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel have enjoyed conditions that aid turn, and will once again aim to choke runs in the middle overs.



Earlier today, the ICC’s latest T20I rankings confirmed Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Chakravarthy as No.1 in batting, all-rounders, and bowling, respectively.

Bangladesh, however, also bring spin depth with Mahedi, Nasum, and possibly Rishad Hossain, who could trouble India’s right-handers.

Speaking at the toss, Suryakumar Yadav said India were content batting first. “We are happy doing it. We have got what we wanted in the last 4-5 games and we are happy to bat first. We have to follow the good things we have been doing and the results will take care of itself,” he said.

Jaker Ali, leading Bangladesh in Litton’s absence, expressed confidence in his side’s chances.

“We would like to bowl first. He (Litton) got injured during a practice session and unfortunately misses out on this crucial game. I am excited and looking forward to this game. We are doing really well as a team and we will try to give our best,” he said, adding that the surface looks good for batting.

With India fielding a balanced XI boasting three ICC No.1 players, Abhishek, Hardik, and Chakravarthy, and Bangladesh banking on Mustafizur Rahman’s experience alongside young talent, the contest promises to be a fascinating battle of nerve and skill under lights.
