Abhishek Sharma’s sister sends heartwarming message after Asia Cup heroics
Abhishek Sharma's family expressed mixed emotions after his run-out dismissal at 75 runs denied him a century during India's 41-run victory over Bangladesh in the Men's T20 Asia Cup Super 4 match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Despite the disappointment, his stellar performance helped India secure a spot in the Asia Cup final.
"It's okay, it's a part of the game to be honest, but yes, today's dismissal was a little hurtful as it was a run out. But yes, it's loading, it's loading, guys, he's gonna make a century soon," said Komal Sharma, Abhishek's sister, after the match.

Komal highlighted Abhishek's close relationship with his mentor Yuvraj Singh. "As sir will say, we have to follow that and he has to follow that, that's all. Yes, of course, he is always there with him, telling him everything. He gets all the instructions before and after the match, how he did it and how he didn't do it."
She mentioned that Abhishek considers his mother his lucky charm and emphasized team performance. "It's okay, he's still winning, he's playing well. It felt really good, the whole team is playing well, everyone is praying for him to play well."
"Finally, we just want the trophy home and we are wishing all the team members of Team India to do their best and win the trophy home," she added.
Sharma's innings of 75 off 39 deliveries surpassed his mentor Yuvraj Singh's record for most T20I innings with five or more sixes by an Indian player. He now has six such knocks, ranking behind only Rohit Sharma with 13 and Suryakumar with 9.
He also set a new Asia Cup record with 17 sixes in the 2025 edition, the highest in a single tournament across formats.
After Bangladesh's stand-in captain Jaker Ali won the toss and elected to field, India's opening pair of Abhishek and Shubman Gill (29 off 19) got off to a strong start, reaching 72 runs in the Power-play.
The Indian innings lost momentum after Sharma's run-out by Rishad Hossain. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma scored 5 runs each, while Shivam Dube made 2.
Hardik Pandya's 38 off 29 balls and Axar Patel's unbeaten 10 off 15 helped India reach 168/6. Bangladesh's bowlers Rishad Hossain (2-27) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (1-29) effectively contained India's middle order.
Bangladesh's chase was led by Saif Hassan, who scored 69 off 51 balls despite being dropped three times by Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson. He partnered with Parvez Hossain Emon (21 off 19) for a 42-run stand.
India's spinners dominated the middle overs, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 3-18, Varun Chakravarthy 2-29, and Jasprit Bumrah claiming 2-18. Axar Patel took 1-37, and Tilak Varma picked up the final wicket of Mustafizur Rahman as Bangladesh was dismissed for 127.
The victory marked India's fifth consecutive win in the tournament, confirming their place in the final. Sri Lanka has been eliminated, leaving Bangladesh and Pakistan to compete in a virtual semifinal for the remaining final spot.
