NEW DELHI: In preparation for the upcoming third Ashes Test at Headingley, Yorkshire County Cricket Club has heightened security measures following the disruption caused by 'Just Stop Oil' protesters during the second match at Lord's.

During the first morning of the Test in London, protesters entered the field and scattered orange powder on the outfield before one individual was escorted off by England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

As a result, three individuals were charged with aggravated trespass.

Additionally, concerns have arisen regarding the behavior of fans towards Australian players following the contentious dismissal of Bairstow on the final day of the match, which prompted prolonged and boisterous booing from the crowd. Furthermore, there were instances of verbal abuse directed towards Australian players by MCC members in the Long Room of the stadium.

Australia took a stranglehold on the Ashes series after beating England by 43 runs in a fiery and controversial second Test in Lord's on Sunday.

With this win, Australia took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

England captain Ben Stokes hit a stunning 155 after Jonny Bairstow was controversially given out stumped after straying out of his ground on the last day.

But England were bowled out for 327 chasing a stiff target of 371.

Australia captain Pat Cummins led the attack with 3-69.

Bairstow, the last of England's specialist batsmen, fell in bizarre fashion for 10 when he wandered out of his ground after ducking a Cameron Green bouncer

A quick-thinking wicketkeeper Alex Carey under-armed the ball onto the stumps.

Bairstow thought he had secured his ground by tapping his bat behind the crease.

The third Test at Headingley starts on Thursday.

"Clearly, some incidents at Lord's have heightened the interest and exposure of the third Test," the club said in a statement on Monday, according to ESPN Cricinfo.

"The wellbeing of players, officials and spectators is paramount, and we are implementing appropriate measures to do everything within our control to keep everyone safe.

"We will continue to work closely with both ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board) and West Yorkshire Police to ensure our safety measures are proportionate for this fixture."

The Times newspaper reported Yorkshire have hired a team of "sprinter stewards" to prevent proTesters from breaching initial perimeter security.

Reuters has contacted Yorkshire for comment.

Australia lead the five-match series 2-0.

'Just Stop Oil' proTesters have disrupted other sporting events in England this year, including the Premiership Rugby final and the World Snooker Championship.
