Top seed Kartavya Anadkat was held to a draw by lowly-ranked Vedant Varasada. Kartavya, who has an Elo rating of 2152, found Vedant, Elo rating 1766, tough nut to crack and had to settle for a draw on the top-board battle. Both Kartavya and Vedant have 3.5 points to their credit and jointly shared the second spot.

However, the most shocking result came on the second board when No. 2 seed Shrayan Majumder was stunned by Ujjwal Deep. Shrayan, Elo rating of 2134, was upset by Ujjwal, who has a lowly rating of 1767.

Fourth seed Arpan Das, fifth seed Arun Kataria, sixth seed S Badrinath, seventh seed Shriraj Bhosale and other seeds notched up fourth successive victories to share the top spot with four points each.

The prestigious tournament is being conducted by the Jaipur District Chess association & Care Health Insurance with Medical partner, Narayana Health and Child Health Care partner, Neo Hospital under the aegis of Rajasthan Chess Association & All India Chess Federation (AICF). With the impressive prize pool of Rs 5 Lakh, a total of 66 cash prizes will be up for grabs, along with 20 trophies for the top performers.
