HYDERABAD: On a day when all the top seeds faltered,
Pranauv Ram
of Telangana and
Unnati Hooda
of Haryana emerged triumphant in the boys and girls category in the All-India Sub-Junior (U-13) Ranking
Badminton Tournament at the
Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy
, here on Sunday.
In the finals, second seed Ram recovered from a mid-match slump to beat top seed Aumkaran Sharma of Haryana 21-19, 20-22, 21-19 while Unnati downed top seed Navya Kanderi of Andhra Pradesh in straight games 21-19, 21-19.
Navya, however, avenged her singles in the doubles final. Along with Shriyanshi Valishetty she won the the doubles title with a 21-12, 12-21, 21-12 victory against top seeds Unnati Hooda of Haryana and Divitha Pottasiri of Andhra Pradesh.
Manipur duo of Ahantem Kasprov and Borish Salam denied a second title for Pranauv Ram. Kasprov and Salem defeated Ram and Sai Krishna Teegala 21-13, 12-21, 21-12 in the final.
