Triple Jump: Christian Taylor becomes a two-time Olympic champion
London 2012, check. Rio 2016, check. USA's Christian Taylor wins the men's triple jump final to claim gold in a dramatic event. He scored a mammoth and insurmountable 17.86 metres on his first attempt which no one could beat. Compatriot Will Claye takes silver with an impressive 17.76m while China's Bin Dong has the bronze medal

Widely regarded as the nailed on favourite in the men's triple jump final, Christian Taylor of team USA show's us he means business. Dong Bin had taken the lead with an impressive 17.58m the jump before, but Taylor isn't having it, and smashes the previous effort with a whopping 17.86m

Kenya's Hellen Obiri wins the heat in a time of 15:19.38. She is followed by Yasemin Can of Turkey and teammate Mercy Herono. Canoeing: Hungary takes gold in women's kayak double 500m
The Hungarian pair of Gabriella Szabo and Danuta Kozak just hold off the challenge of Germany's Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze in a photo finish to clinch gold. Just 0.05 of a second seperates the boats in a dramatic finale. Bronze goes to Karolina Naja and Beata Mikolajczyk of Poland who were a further couple of seconds back
